Critique Review

"A lovely pinot grigio with pear, apple-skin, some crushed-stone and lemon undertones. It’s full-bodied and very flavorful. Real pinot grigio. Drink and enjoy."

James Suckling, 2020

Critique Review

"It's all about sharpness and focus here, the exact qualities you look for in wines from this altitude and the reflective light of the snow-capped Italian Dolomites. The San Michele Appiano (St. Michael Eppan) 2019 Alto Adige Pinot Grigio is indeed luminous and bright, with lasting zest and appeal. The variety performs with almost spicy intensity, showing grapefruit, crushed stone and bitter almond. Try this versatile white with fried zucchini and shrimp with salt and lemon juice."

Vineyard Info

St. Michael-Eppan Winery has been enthroned in the center of South Tyrols most important wine-growing community for over a century. For more than two thousand years, wines have been grown in the area around Eppan, known for its ideal growing conditions, and it is these grapes that are being processed at St. Michael-Eppan Winery. The 340 winemaking families that form the backbone of the winery joined forces in 1907 to create St. Michael-Eppan Winery. Their great passion is the wine with which they have been associated for generations. Offering knowledge, tradition and passion, each individual contributes to the fact that the winery is blessed with outstanding grapes, which are processed in the cellars with meticulous attention to detail and a great deal of skill.

This wine is made from various vineyards in the municipalities of Appiano and Caldaro (400-500 m), with a South-East & South-West exposure on a calcareous pebbly soil.
