Vegan Wine

Though made entirely the same way as all wines, vegan wines are wines in which during the winemaking step of "fining" that is needed to filter the wine, no animal-based products are used. The most common fining agents used by the wine industry are egg whites and milk protein. Vegan wines instead use alternatives such as clay or plant-based fining agents.

Vineyard Info

In 1996, at an age when most people are thinking of retiring, the 3 Canepa sisters, - Gilda, Edda and Antonieta-, responding to their passion for the production of fine wines which has been part of their family’s life since the 1930’s, decided to link their well established vineyard holdings to a state-of-the art, brand new winery. TerraMater was born from exceptional lands, covered by vines that are up to 70 years old, and marvelous olive groves over 50 years old, which produce the very best quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil. You can also find apple orchards.

Chile's earliest inhabitants believed that life was created by the union between Mother Earth and the Sun. Our vineyards grow in the foothills of the Lonquen Hill (Maipo Valley), in a nature reserve for Chilean native species. The main vineyards for "Paso del Sol" are named Caperana and Peteroa. Our Caperana Estate gets approximately 400mm of rainfall each year, mainly during the winter months. The maritime influence allows us to have a thermal differential between day and night well marked, and also you can find three types of soil: deep and rich, stony and sedimentary. All this allows us to produce a wide variety of wines within the same area.
