Vineyard Info
Baron de Ley was founded in 1985 by a group of four Rioja wine professionals who had a dream of establishing a “château” with their own vineyards in Rioja...30 years later, Baron de Ley has grown to become one of the biggest viticultors of Rioja (more than 700 Has.) and an award-winning winery among the elite of Rioja top brands.
The winery and headquarters are situated at the Monastery of Imas undertaken in 95 and 96, uses the furniture to recreate the Golden Age of the house at the end of the 19th century, when the Jiménez family owned the house and managed the farm. A spectacular fusion of the old Benedictine tradition and the great wines of today. Barón de Ley Reserva is made from grapes coming from our own vineyards in Mendavia (Rioja Baja).
The climate in this part of Rioja, with clear Mediterranean influence, provides excellent maturation which, combined with a low yield viticulture (5.000 kgrs/Ha. aproximately), result in modern Riojas with a “mediterranean soul”; wines with combine remarkable power with the elegance and harmony that have always been characteristic of the Rioja wines.
