The rest of the campaign was marked by abundant rainfall from May to September and a very strong disease pressure (mildew) which also generated a loss of harvest of 5 to 30% depending on the sector. This cold and humic climate was nevertheless beneficial to the white wines to preserve their freshness. The work done on the harvest date and in the cellar on the lees allowed us to have a beautiful vintage with fresh aromas and a good length. |

Vineyard Info
François Lurton represents the fifth generation of the Lurton wine family, wine producers since 1897. Today François Lurton is the owner of a number of unique vineyards in four countries in both hemispheres of the world.
Les Fumées Blanches is situated in the Gascony region, in South West France. The Lurton brothers found this unique terroir in 1997, and found it to be the ideal place to grow and express the true character of Sauvignon Blanc. The name of the wine comes from the light morning mists which drift like white smoke over the foothill vineyards. In these relatively cool microclimates, Sauvignon Blanc develops the smoky, slightly pungent aromas which are part of the unique personality of this grape. All the FUMEES BLANCHES Cotes de Gascogne plots are managed according to a set of strict criteria: taste, ripeness and technical. Tasting the grapes plays a decisive role, as it allows them to set the harvest date and adapt the vinification processes to the characteristics of the grapes. It also enables them to select the best plots and achieve the full aromatic potential of their wines. Francois Lurton vinifies this wine in the modern style which he has perfected, precisely capturing all the fresh, delicate aromas of the Sauvignon grape.
