Vintage: 2015

2015 will go down in the history of Prieuré Lichine's vintages as one of extreme refinement, brought by ripe Cabernet Sauvignon and amazing density. The wines show modern-style profiles with a flavorsome and powerful palate. Unquestionably, the end of season weather helped make 2015 a stand-out vintage in its time with good balances, fabulous aromatic precision and rarely achieved density on the palate. Most definitely a great vintage for Margaux and for Prieuré-Lichine.

Critique Review

Some very ripe dark-plum aromas with a wealth of sweet spices and earthy notes. The palate has an impressively rich, suave and smooth core of black fruit with a powerful palate that delivers concentrated and intense structure. This is superb Margaux. Try from 2022.

96 pts, James Suckling

This is a perfumed wine, rich in black currants and acidity as well as firm tannins. It is concentrated and dense while also elegant. The aftertaste boosts the ripe fruit and balanced acidity. Drink from 2025.

95 pts, Wine Enthusiast

Beautifully concentrated black fruits on the nose and palate – a classy and elegant blend.

92 pts, Decanter

Vineyard Info

Just as the history of the estate has been made up of multiple eras and styles, so too the vineyard of Château Prieuré-Lichine is composed of a constellation of different plots characteristic of the terroirs of Margaux, forming a patchwork of soil types that cover 5 of the appellation’s communes. Brought about by unique geological eras, these soils are essentially composed of gravel (conglomerates of pebbles, gravel, sands and clay sediments), deposited by the river during the breaking-up of glaciers during the Quaternary era. The terraces of Günz Garonne gravel, which are incredibly well-preserved and offer superb draining capacity, are the defining feature of the Margaux terroir.
