CHÂTEAU CROIX DE LABRIE 2018 - Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux - France
CHÂTEAU CROIX DE LABRIE - Saint Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux - France
"A rich, powerful red with so much fruit and intensity. It’s full-bodied with masses of fruit with vanilla and coffee character and a long, warm finish. Layered and intense. Really needs time in the bottle to come together. Better after 2025." - James Suckling
Product Description
Description
Deep and intense, with amazing 100 years old Cabernet Sauvignon blended at 5% only (3 barrels) and 95% Merlot. Very sexy and lot of floral notes with hint of blackcurrant, cherries and spices. The palate is fresh and very elegant. The silky tannins make the palate round, plummy and very attractive. Some mineral notes with some black cherries flavours, very rich and dense, but with a very long finish. Vintage in image may vary. Refer to wine facts for current vintage.

96 pts, James Suckling“The 2018 Croix de Labrie is a blend is 90% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, aged in 100% new oak barrels for approximately 18 months. The wine has 14% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it needs a fair bit of swirling and coaxing to unlock notions of Black Forest cake, preserved plums and blackberry pie with suggestions of star anise, tilled soil, Indian spices and tobacco leaf. The medium to full-bodied palate has a sturdy structure of firm, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness supporting the muscular black fruits, finishing on a lingering fragrant earth note. Here's a beautifully expressed piece of Saint-Émilion turf on a clear upward trajectory!”

Vineyard Info
"The Sexiest wine from Bordeaux" Robert Parker "The Last True garage wine from Bordeaux" James Suckling
Château Croix de Labrie is located in Saint-Emilion Grand Cru which inevitably think of Burgundy and its mosaic of plots and producers. 3,5ha vineyards located down the slopes of Pavie and on the top of the plateau in Saint-Christophe des Bardes. The soils are made of clay and chalk, asteries limestones, and some iron sand.
We pay particular attention to the vine in order to express the maximum of the terroir. The vineyard is handled by Axelle Courdurié, as a small diamond, from pruning to the harvest, the vinification and ageing with the guidance of the team of Michel Rolland. Very mindful of detail, accuracy Axelle brings her feminine sensitivity to all our wines from Croix de Labrie.
